Marchini Curran are in the process of refurbishing the building on behalf of the current owners Adapt Real Estate. The refurbished offices; will included the enhancement of the street level entrance with new secure green commuting facilities, the provision of new lifts and a new central communal cafe within the glazed atrium. The new offices will have enhanced environmentally controlled heating and ventilation systems. It is anticipated that the office suites will come to the market in spring 2025.
The offices are located within the former Co-operative Department store on Upper Parliament Street, which ceased trading in 2001, the building is a significant local landmark in a prominent position within Nottingham City Centre.
Marchini Curran first renovated and refurbished the building for HBD in 2006, the office space within the mixed-use development was occupied by Driving Standards Agency, arranged around a new central atrium.
The ground floor is occupied by retailers and restaurants with a casino operating at first and second floor. Residential apartments were located on the top of the original building with commanding views over the Nottingham skyline.
The scheme won a number of awards including Property Week Awards 2007, RICS East Midlands Awards 2008, Nottingham Evening Post Commercial Property Awards 2008 and the Lord Mayor’s Awards for Urban Design Nottingham 2009.
