Phoenix Art Centre and Café Bar

Marchini Curran Associates (MCa) along with Marchini Curran Interiors (MCi) worked on the renowned independent cinema and arts centre Phoenix, in Leicester.

The scheme, delivered by Willmott Dixon Construction’s Nottingham office under the Scape National Construction Framework, provided a 1,200sqm extension to the existing venue at Midland Street Leicester. The build included two new cinema screens, a new digital art gallery together with extended café and bar facilities. This including an event space and a rooftop terrace bar. Internal education and staff areas were also refurbished.

The cinema and arts centre opened at Christmas 2023. The multimillion-pound expansion project is now open to the public and continues the centre’s goal of making inspiring film and art available to all.

The project has recently been shortlisted for a ProCon Leicestershire Award 2024.
