STEAM Facility
East Midlands
MCa are working with Benchmark Property to deliver a new STEAM building for a leading East Midlands Secondary Education College.
The facility is designed to fit within their existing historic campus and provide new state of the art facilities for Science, Technology, English, Art and Maths.
A new large central atrium workspace will be incorporated to enable specialist projects to be undertaken jointly by the departments using the new facility. The design also accommodates a roof top observatory for use by all science students within the school
Foremost within the proposal is to create a building that becomes part of the teaching process. The facility being designed as an environmentally aware building that provides data for students while in use. Important design goals are maximising natural light, high insulation values, recovery of waste heat and the introduction of roof top PVs, all to increase efficiency and reduce the buildings carbon footprint
