Water Court

Nottingham

A comprehensive and sensitive refurbishment has breathed new life into this existing building, part of Nottingham’s richly textured industrial heritage. Originally built as two separate canal-side warehouses, later rather crudely conjoined, the scheme re-articulates the original arrangement by separating the two block with a central zone sheathed in triple height glazing. Clean white porcelain and render finishes in this zone are juxtaposed with exposed brickwork and oak king trusses in the older parts of the scheme to create both legibility of the history of the building and a dynamic new office environment.

Engineering systems within the building have been completely overhauled to provide high specification LED lighting and intelligent VRF mechanical heating systems. Both elements have been sensitively dovetailed with the original architecture, and float suspended in the space to provide maximum flexibility for layouts and uses.
